MJ Date Night

Well it was Jeff's turn again.

His original plan was for a bonfire since we had fantastic 80 degree weather this week up here in Michigan!

The plan fell through when it was heading down to 30ish degree weather on Friday evening & rain.

So plan b-

I think we had shyed away from movies for our dates in the past because one of us (or both) of us ALWAYS fall asleep! And I am always trying to think of something that will spark a little more conversation.
However, this was the perfect movie for date night. It sparked a lot of good convo as to our thoughts on the Jackson family & MJ along with the death etc.
It was more of a documentary on the concert in London that was supposed to go on, so it wasn't like we missed out on much while talking our way through it.
I loved it & I know Jeff really like it too so it was a good date!

In Between The Wedding Date

Our friend Josh got married on Saturday & we decided that Jeff would plan our date for the 2-3 hours in between the ceremony & reception.
It was nice because the wedding was about 2.5 hours from where we live. It was in the thumb of Michigan & both of us have never been there before. So it was a perfect opportunity to see the area & what it had to offer.

Jeff took us to some awesome beaches & look-outs around Port Austin & Caseville that some friends had reccomended & then took us to our friend Josh's greenhouse that we had never seen before. It was perfect!
It was a beautiful sunny day & it got us so excited for a great Michigan summer this year. It really felt a lot like northern Michigan where we go up to my parents cottage most weekends from Memorial Day- Labor Day.
Jeff took us to a fantastic pier that we walked to the end of & then a state park & then we got to drive around & look at all the gorgeous homes on Lake Huron.

Surprise Date Night

It was the first time my husband Jeff was supposed to plan Date Night.
I reminded him a few times but eventually gave up on bugging him & thought he would forget & we would end up watching the Spartan Bball Game for sure & then didn't think there was much planned after that.

Well he got me!
Our date night was Saturday night- so we had to get in our Spartan Gear to watch MSU lose in the Final 4 by 2pts only to Butler!!! What a loss!!!!

http://www.msuspartans.com/

But in the last quarter of the game a knock at the door scared me to death! Whenever we know someone is coming we open the garage for them & turn on the lights, but at 8:00 at night I was shocked- especially because we live in the booneys!

It was our friend Emily who was in town for the weekend & Jeff had been arranging for her to come over & surprise me the whole time! It was a great surprise since she lives in Chicago & we dont get to see her very much.

She brought us lots of treats (jeff asked her to bring some of my favorite Chicago pizza home!) & we had a fantastic time just catching up until 1am over some hennessy!!! Our normal drink with Emily.....& she brought a Special Hennessy Bottle for us....

I had to go to call it a night at 1am though, I could have stayed up all night talking to her (like we normally do) but I knew that a rambunctious 1 year old awaited me at 6:30am!
Thanks babe for a great 1st Date! It was a good surprise!

Date #3 - Go Green! Go White!

GO GREEN
GO WHITE

Date #3 consisted of

-Good Friends
-Good Basketball
&-Good Beer

='s a Great Time!

We had so much fun on date #3 at our house with 2 of my friends from college (Michigan State University) and their husbands.

Just so happened MSU was playing in the NCAA tournament on our date which couldn't have worked out better since us 3 girls used to watch MSU Bball in the East Lansing bars (& may have participated in some MSU Rioting as well together :))

Since we always used to watch the games at BDubs in EL (and just go there once a week anyway) I decided that for our triple date we needed some bdubs & pizza (what we used to have after the bars back at 304 Collingwood).

So I had it all staying warm in the oven for an hour before they got to our place so when they came in it really smelled like bdubs in there (without the smoke smell). Along with some marco's pizza that served for dinner, midnight snack & breakfast the next morning!

It was also Jessica's (Buck's) birthday the following week so we HAD to celebrate! Jeff & I did a collaboration effort on the cake & it turned out pretty bad looking but GREAT tasting! Thanks babe for making the cake with me!

After seeing MSU Come out Victorious we had a ball laughing about all the stupid things we used to do and everyone always has a great time informing the husbands about the stupid things we used to do as well!

Well this was a fun one........ I am looking forward to a date with just Jeff & I next week!

The Date That Was Not Supposed To Be Our Date

We took Eric with us to Chicago for the weekend to stay with our friend Emily. The plan was to hang out at Em's place on Friday night & then see the river getting dyed green on Saturday & then Saturday night was going to be the "Date" night while Emily watched Eric.

Emily was so kind to volunteer to do all this for us while having us stay in her place & even stay in her bedroom! What a friend!

Then we have to come barge in with all that goes along with having a 1 year old. Not only were his toys everywhere but he was taking all of her belongings & spreading them all over the place faster than we could pick them up! Good thing she had a swifter- that is a new favorite toy!

Anyway, after all that, we kept Emily awake all Friday & Saturday nights, probably along with all of her neighbors as well. Eric decided he was going to have a bit of a sleeping issue at 3:30am on Friday night (Sat morning) & thought it was time to party & not go back to bed. So Jeff ended up driving him around & taking him to a coffee shop til 7am so Emily & I could get some sleep.

Eric did not take any naps the rest of the day & was acting pretty good, but just refused to nap. Then little did we know that it would get so much worse at night! We finally got him to sleep & got directions to the place we were going to have our date & low & behold the crying started back up as we started out the door. I couldn't leave Emily with this screaming child even though she was nice enough to tell us just to leave anyway!

So he would only sleep in my arms for the rest of the night with many interruptions of crying & about 3:30 am we decided instead of driving around again we would just drive home. So we said so long to Emily about 4am & got to see all of the drunken St. Patty's day bar-goers trying to stumble home in their kilts. (Chicago bars don't close til 4am!) So we had to stop at a popular hot dog stand on the way home & try one! Best hot dog I ever had!

So this is why I am concluding that Friday night was truly our "date" night for the weekend since after Eric did go to bed Emily & I went down to Lucky's Pub so we could pick up some of the sandwiches we saw on Man Vs Food a while back! You have to see the pics.............

Emily showing us the beastlyness of the sandwich!

We just passed around each 1/2 sandwich that we had started on because we knew there was no way we would even get more than 1/2 sandwich down. And of course we wanted to try every kind! We sucessfully only got 3 1/2ves down with 3 of us. And not even 1/2 the fries. Of course we had the leftovers for breakfast/lunch the next morning! Best part about these sandwiches- they are only $7.99 each!! (That is for a whole one!) So I definately stayed within the date budget.

Anyway we got to have good conversation with our old & great friend Emily! I have known Emily since kindergarten so we get each other very well! It has been so much fun getting to see her in the big city & we love coming!

Thanks for the great date night Emily!

1st Date of 52!

On Friday night (3/5/10) Jeff & I signed the Project 52 Date Nights pledge!

Check out the pledge from Simply Modern Mom on the right side of the blog--------->

We are officially "dating" again! I love it. I think he likes it too.
I started out planning the dates for the first month since it was my idea to do this project. So we put Eric to bed & took 5 minutes to de-baby the house & get all the toys put away.
We had ourselves some Gus's Carryout for dinner- Greek Salad & Breadsticks & Cheese Dip=$8.00, then opened a bottle of 2 buck Chuck=$2.99 & played a few games of Clue & Blokus in front of the fire place.

~Classy & Sexy All At The Same Time!~

We loved this because neither of us had played Clue as a kid! And then snacked on a bowl of Cheetos=$1.99. We had the best time! We also brought out some cd's from the basement that both of us had from high school/college & listened to some old school tunes.

We decided that if we had that much fun doing something we could have been doing every other night but never think of. We would have normally watched tv for a bit & fallen asleep during. We throughly enjoyed each others company & were so excited about our new challenge we were making lists in bed of things we can do for our future dates!!

Thanks to Carri Ann & Simply Modern Mom for motivating us!!
